Virgin pics from my outdoor studio
Thanks to my sister and her family for being my guinea pigs, and putting up with poo shoes. These are all shot with natural light in my back yard (a big reason we bought this house.) Here are some of my favorites:
And of course I couldn't have my camera out and not snap a few of my son:
I'm loving this house. So so much.

The cuteness of it all

Drum roll please
My new lens is here, and has taken it's rightful place aboard my dinosaur Canon 10D. Don't laugh, it was obsolete before I finished paying for it.
I was so excited I just popped it on there and started shooting the first thing my eyes rested on. Which happened to be our Real Estate contract. I know, I know, not the most creative, but oh, just look at the smoothness of the blur! and the sharpness of the focus!
Next I attempted to photograph my perpetual motion machine, eh hem, my son, which was an exercise in frustration. This is my best shot, and is a pretty good visual description him. Lots of hair. Lots of movement. Yep, that's my boy. Seriously the kid has two speeds, full throttle and zonked out. He has no idle, no neutral. So I moved on to other subjects who, blessedly, were much more compliant models, my dogs.
Yeah, dogs are pretty great models. Especially when they are not in full throttle mode. These guys have always loved being in front of the lens. Don't they look peaceful and serene? Ha!
Well, there you have it. Verdict on the new lens so far: love it. I didn't have too much time to play, as we had our perspective buyer coming by the house this evening, so play time was cut short in favor of making the house presentable. Tomorrow will hold more photography time, so stay tuned.

Your patience is appreciated
So yeah, I start a photo blog, and then never add pictures. I know. Lame. But here is my excuse: my camera required some minor repairs (which it's needed for like a year) so Todd helped me with that, and now I can say my camera is a "custom." I.e. when I put the mode dial back on I thought I had it on straight, I double and triple checked. However when the glue was dry and the clamp removed it turns out that somehow it ended up one icon off. So unless someone knows how to release the Ultra Super Mega hold of Gorilla Glue, only I will be able to operate my camera correctly. It'll be my little security feature. If it every gets stolen at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that the thief will never get the exposure they are looking for! Mwa ha ha!
And then theres the issue of The New Lens. My wonderful sweet husband let me have his share of the government economic stimulus check (which actually was all his, somehow he got $600 and I got gypped) to buy a new lens. Which should be here TODAYYYYYY! Yippe! It's a 50mm f1.4, which cost a bundle, but I've seen images that this lens has taken, and prepare to be wowed my people. If not by my creativity then by the sheer smoothness of the bokeh and color quality.
Stay tuned...

Hey yo
So I've been meaning to do this for a long time, and finally just decided to take my own advice and quit putting off 'til tomorrow what I can do today.
I've been an amateur photographer for years now, but after our son Oliver entered our lives (a time when you'd think I'd be taking a million kajillion pictures) photography was put on the back burner, and raising him was my sole occupation. Believe me, it had to be that way.
He's now two, and while he still requires a large portion of my time, I have decided to carve out a little "me" time, to pursue my interests, hobbies, and talents outside of motherhood.
And decided to start a photography blog, to provide a little accountability, if you will, for actually taking pictures. Good ones. I hope. So bear with me as I try to get the creative juices to flow again. I'll start you off with one of my favorite sessions ever, Oliver's first.
